If you’re here, you’re probably wondering about that billboard.

Why does Emporia need rebuilt? Who is Christ Church?
In this post and some to follow (sign up for the updates!) I’ll explain everything.
Christ Church is looking for men to rebuild an Emporia that is vanishing.
Emporia is vanishing economically as good jobs get harder to find and housing gets more and more unaffordable. Emporia is vanishing demographically as young families move places where there are jobs and homes.
But even more critically, Emporia is vanishing spiritually. Church attendance is at an all-time low as the Church and young men turn away from each other. Pastors and church leaders have long-ago turned away from declaring God’s Law to our local magistrates. And young men are turning away from empty, happy-clappy worship and therapeutic teaching.
Christ Church is different. We’re engaged, political, and controversial. When other Emporia pastors were afraid to speak out as a group against the Emporia Pride Parade, Christ Church did. Our denominational leaders regularly praise President Trump (when he gets it right), and the Secretary of War is even a member of one of our churches.
All this flows from our commitment to a very traditional view of history and the endtimes. I’ll summarize the historical view as follows: Christ wins and Satan loses on Earth—just like in Heaven. Sound familiar?
Worship at Christ Church is different. We know that worship is the most important thing that mankind does. We take a very high view of the Word and the Sacraments. When you visit, you’ll find our worship meaty, manly, and grounded in the history of the Church. We lean into theology and old books.
It’ll take time. The Kingdom of Heaven is like yeast in bread dough. It’s like seeds growing into trees. The Kingdom starts small. But remember this: it’s a Kingdom. It’s not a support group. It’s not a club. It’s not a seminar or a child-care service or a charity. The Kingdom, including Emporia, is a Kingdom with a King.
We want men who want to follow King Jesus and who want to claim Emporia’s politics, Emporia’s economy, and Emporia’s culture for King Jesus.
If that’s you, check out ChristChurchEmporia.com to contact us directly. And remember to sign up for email updates.
